The Droid Robotics are back with an update on their latest competition!
Last week, our Pittsburgh-based robotics team (Not the Droids You Are Looking For) attended the First LEGO League (FLL) Razorback Invitational. The FLL Razorback Invitational is a 72-team invitational, championship tournament that was held from May 14-17, 2015, on the University of Arkansas campus.
We are excited to announce that our team was awarded the First Place Champion’s Award at the Invitational. For those familiar with FLL, there are three parts to the competition: Robot Design, Project and Core Values. The Champions award is the highest award given by FIRST in the First LEGO League division and given to the team that excels in all three parts of the program. In addition, we were also awarded Second Place Robot Performance with a high score of 794 points.
The best part of the competition was the moment when the Champion was announced. All our friends on other teams ran up to us. We ended the tournament surrounded by all our friends from Australia, the Netherlands, Israel, Indiana, California, etc.
Our winning robot was called the TARDIS.
Our project was about improving how students learn to program the LEGO EV3 MINDSTORMS Robot and can be viewed here (www.ev3lessons.com). If you are interested in collaborating on this project or if you are starting a robotics team and have questions, you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We were excited and proud to represent Pittsburgh, PA at this competition. Thank you to the Robotics Academy for sponsoring FLL in Western PA!
